Paula Marinho, PhD.

Paula is a biologist and received her PhD in Microbiology/Virology in 2019 at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil). During her PhD she worked on the molecular biology, isolation and characterization of viruses that effected the central nervous system, with focus on Flaviviruses.
Paula joined the Lemieux Lab team in 2022 and has been working on CEPI project (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) with focus on SARS-CoV-2 variant and how it impacts on immune response. She is also studying other viral pathogens including Powassan virus to understand their biology and immune response, using viral-like particles (VLPs) as an approach.
Outside the lab Paula dedicates her free time to her little daughter. But she also finds time for her other hobbies like reading books, watching movies and cooking.
